Contenuti

This is a methods workshop, focussing on the specific method of visual ethnography. THERE ARE NO PREREQUISITES AND NO SPECIAL EQUIPMENT IS NEEDED.

Testi/Bibliografia

A full list will be available soon via Virtuale, but students may consult: https://www.tate.org.uk/art/art-terms/v/visual-ethnography

The challenge is understanding how such ethnography might inform longstanding questions within the field of political science and legal theory.

Metodi didattici

We will meet as a group online unless circumstances change. Students will prepare weekly readings as well as brief fieldwork projects. Participation in weekly discussion is required. The course discussion will be critical for the formation of questions related to the use and abuse of the ethnographic method in politics.

Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento

A final visual piece (photo, video) with a written component and class participation. The course is Pass/fail and all who participate and submit work will pass.
