Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

At the end of the course students are acquainted with the chemical processes and the application of green chemistry principles, renewables as raw materials for fuel and chemical industry, minimization of waste and application of green metrics, capture and utilization of CO2. Students are aware of the scale-up methodologies, industrialization of safe technologies and intrinsically safe chemical processes.

Metodi didattici

Room lectures supported in some cases by power point presentation. The presentations will be available on line for the students.

Case studyes: flow sheet development, safety assesment and impact minimization.

Laboratory experience in green process.

Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento

ASSESSMENT:

Learning assessment is based on oral examination at the end of the course. In order to attend the final examination, students have to register online within the given deadlines (registration usually closes one day prior the exam date). The oral examination will last about 20 to 30 minutes and it will assess:

· the comprehension of the main aspects affecting sustainability of the chemical processes

· the ability to correlate the choice in the process type and the reaction parameter with key parameter and green indicator

· the ability to discuss case studies addressing sustainability issues.
