Academic Year 2012/2013

  • Moduli: Claudio Mazzotti (Modulo 1) Nicola Buratti (Modulo 2)
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures (Modulo 1) Traditional lectures (Modulo 2)
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Civil Engineering (cod. 8211)

Course contents

In the course, students will develop a project concerning one of the main areas of the civil engineering course: structures, hydraulics, road & transportation. The project will be done individually or in small groups, organized at the beginning of the course. The teacher will illustrate the main steps of the design procedure, and the students will follow them with in-class and at-home work.

Structures: Design of a reinforced concrete structure in a seismic region

  • Definition of loads: design loads, definition of seismic actions, limit state load combinations.
  • Developement of a FEM model of the structure.
  • Design of the floor slabs: hollow clay blocks slabs and 1-way slabs.
  • Design of beams and columns: design for seismic actions, ultimate limit state, and serviceability limit states.
  • Design of foundations.
