Learning outcomes

With the attainment of the educational credits, the student has carried out an integrated design activity that, starting from an executive project of a building, addresses its structural, building and plant engineering problems.

Course contents

Historic masonry buildings: construction principles, types of masonry, wooden floors, wooden roofs, wooden trusses, masonry arches and vaults.

Frame buildings of the twentieth century: elements of the theory of elastic structures, reinforced concrete frames, foundations, floors, opaque and transparent curtain walls.

Breakdown of the building system. Building requirements and performance.

Current construction systems: ordinary and reinforced masonry constructions, reinforced concrete constructions, wooden constructions. Vertical and horizontal closures, internal partitions.
