Learning outcomes
After completing this course, the student has knowledge of keyctechniques that enable the preparation of herbal products or more generally of formulations of healthy interest. In particular has the necessaryknowledge related to the bioavailability and release from traditional and innovative vehicles.
In addition, the student has adequate knowledge of national and community legislation on medicinal plants and herbal products.

Regolatory framework of products containing botanicals.
LADME system. Bioavalability and administration routes. Release of an active substance from a dosage form.
Strategies to enhance solubility. Complex, micelle and salt formation.
Solid dosage forms. Powders. Granulates. Tablets. Capsules. Coated dosage forms. Properties, formulation, preparative technologies and controls.
Liquid dosage forms. Solutions. Emulsions. Suspensions. Properties, formulation, preparative technologies and controls.
Semisolid dosage forms. Ointments, creams, gels and pastes. Properties, formulation, preparative technologies and controls.
Micro e nanoparticles. Micro/nanosphere. Micro/nanocapsules. Liposomes. Properties, formulation, preparative technologies and controls.

Oral examination. At the end of the practical laboratory, a practical test will be made whose outcome will not lead to a vote, but to a skill useful to have access to the oral examination. For the oral examination, registration by AlmaEsami list is required.
