Learning outcomes

The Course aims to provide the student with the tools to understand:

  • the electron microscope;
  • Biological sample preparation (free cell culture, blood , muscle biopsy, surgical samples)
  • the methodological approach to the ultrastructural diagnosis of main human neoplastic and non neoplastic diseases

Course contents

The electron microscope, EM:

- Biological samples preparation

- Normal submicroscopic cytology

- Neoplasia ultrastructural markers

 -Ultrastructural diagnosis of small round cell tumors

- Practical Lab for Electron Microscopy

Teaching methods

2 CFU:

- 1 CFU/ETC of frontal lessons

- 1 CFU/ECT of practical Lab (electron microscopy lab to see biological sample preparation and  to discuss TEM pictures from files of the pathology Department)

Assessment methods

Multiple Choice test (15 questions).

Knowledge about eletron microscopy, biological sample preparation, ultrsaructural diagnosis of the main human neoplastic and non neoplastic diseases.

Teaching tools

 

 The Course is constituted  by 2CFU : one of oral lessons and one as practical study in a specific Lab for Electron Microscopy.The teaching material is available : http://campus.unibo.it/
