Learning outcomes

A number of tools, based on microfluidics and 3D cultures, are being introduced in the orthopaedic practice. Attention will be given to point-of-care devices for the rapid detection of infection and for the diagnosis of bone cancers. Besides general knowledge on the topic, students will acquire basic skill in the manufacturing of microfluidic devices.

Course contents

Clinical background

Spheroids, organoids, and microfluidics for tissue modeling and diagnosis of bone diseases.

Wearable devices for gait analysis and rehabilitation.

Point-of-care devices with AI tools for the diagnosis of infection.
