Learning outcomes

The module aims to provide the foundations for a critical approach to the restoration site, understood as a place where design actions are implemented in constant dialogue with the material and the meanings it conveys. Through lectures, case study presentations, and visits to active construction sites, the course fosters awareness of key topics, encouraging in-depth knowledge and the translation of design thinking into the built form of existing heritage. By the end of the module, students will be familiar with the roles and professionals involved in restoration work, technical aspects, regulations governing public and private construction sites, cost estimation, requirements, as well as investigative and design processes.
