Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student can identify and evaluate the main topics of current research in the tourism field, from both the management and the economics perspective, this way developing autonomous ability in deepening the analysis through brief written essays.

Course contents

In 2025/26 a series of Seminars given by invited speakers will be organized throughout the academic year (between September 2025 and May 2026). Students should attend AT LEAST 15 hours of seminars. Attendance will be checked through identification and signature. Some of the seminars might be offered in online mode, according to the speakers' availability.

The Calendar will be published in due time in this page, as soon as the seminars will be defined. The preliminary programme is as follows:

2. October 16, 15:00 - 18:00, Room TBA: Welcome Conference: The future of cities and sustainable destinations.

3. October 17, 13:00 - 16:00, Room Alberti 5. Vanessa de Oliveira Menezes: Sustainability and digital tools in tourism and hospitality.

4. October 22, 13:00 - 16:00. Room Angherà 3. Andrea Saayman: The informal tourism sector.

Teaching methods

Seminars given by invited speakers, with discussion.

Assessment methods

To gain the 3 ECTS, students must:

  • Attend AT LEAST 15 hours of seminars, selected from the list above. Attendance will be monitored through identification and signature.
  • Write a short essay (between 3,000 and 5,000 words) on one of the topics covered in the seminars. Students are expected to independently find and use appropriate sources and reference materials.
  • Discuss their essay in an oral session, which will be scheduled accordingly.

Evaluation will be on a PASS / FAIL basis.
