Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students:
- knows the general categories-teaching considered in the different fields of extracurricular cultural and social educatio
- knows and understands the main didactics’ models used in different fields of social and cultural education
- are able to interpret the specificity of different contests and to elaborate didactics’ strategy to solve problems.
- are able to reflect on hers/his own competences as educator and modify hers/his behaviour and role in different social and cultural contests.
- knows the main working group techniques and working group relations and functioning.
- are able to work in groups discussing, elaborating projects and elaborate interpretation tools for cases.
- are competent to choose adequate behavioural strategies in order to promote collaboration among different subjects (individuals or groups or institutions), identifying common points and synergies.
Course contents
The course addresses the theoretical foundations and various interpretations of the meanings of didactics in the current scientific debate, leading to the definition of methodologies, strategies, and tools for educational mediation in relation to the different needs and types of socio-educational services, from the perspective of a territorial educational ecosystem.
The general program will address concepts such as:
- the definition of didactics as a complex of methodologies for educational intervention in socio-cultural and care contexts
- the conceptual categories of didactics: who educates, who is being educated, the contents, the languages and the contexts of intervention
- didactics as mediation: of languages, relationships, strategies, materials
- didactic techniques and operational tools
- the work group in educational professions
- didactic planning and participatory processes: some reference models
- the educator within different work contexts: connecting educational theories and practices (tools, critical issues, strategies)
- didactic planning, participatory processes and educational contexts
- media and multimedia as educational environments
- current applications of didactic

Teaching methods
The course proposes a participatory and active teaching approach, through methodologies that engage students through brainstorming activities, discussions, video material viewing, activation of cooperative group work, etc. Through the Virtual space, materials will be made available, additional insights to the lessons, and also spaces for comparison and student agency. Furthermore, to facilitate learning processes in their connection with competencies and understanding of different educational contexts, meetings with privileged witnesses and experts operating in the territories will be proposed, capable of stimulating the search for knowledge "beyond the classroom" through case studies, good practices, and also direct visits to local contexts. To this end, meetings will also be organized from a cross-disciplinary perspective, involving colleagues in joint training sessions.
Assessment methods
The exam will consist of an oral and individual examination (with a vote expressed in thirtieths).
Criteria to assess oral exam will be:
- clarity in the presentation of the contents;
- ability to deepen and link the main issues;
- critical analysis of the repercussions of the topics studied within educational
Teaching tools
During the lectures, technological devices and material for teamwork will be used. The lectures will be integrated with documentaries and films and deepening classes.
Students with DSA or disabilities: it is recommended that they contact the responsible University office (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en/for-students) as soon as possible. The request for adaptation must be submitted in advance (15 days before the exam date) to the lecturer, who will assess the appropriateness of the adjustments, considering the teaching objectives.
