Learning outcomes
To give an in depth skill in simulation, design and run processes with high energy sources (laser and plasmas) for the production and treatment of new materials with high techological added value, managing and optimizing experimental tests.
Course contents
- Introduction to the physics of thermal plasmas
- Analisys of the discharge conditions i nthermal plasmas for industrial applications by means of simulation
- Description of the TEKNA inductively coupled plasma source in the DIEM laboratory
- Analisys of the operating conditions of the induction plasma source
- Analisys of the immission of metallc and ceramic powders in the plasma source
- Description of the plasma cutting devices. Introduction to physics and design problems. Influence of the operating conditions on the cut quality. Cuttng tests in laboratory.
- Desription of the laser source in the DIEM laboratory. Welding and cutting test.
