Full Professor at the University of Bologna since 2022, his research focuses on plasma transport theory, the development of physico-mathematical models for industrial plasma applications, and semantic technologies for applied sciences.
His research interests include the calculation of plasma transport properties, plasma source modelling, multiscale modelling of materials synthesis processes, and the development of ontologies in the nuclear, materials, engineering, and applied sciences domains.
Actively involved in national and international research projects, he served as Coordinator of the European Project H2020-NMP-20-2014 NanoDome (2015–2018) and as Coordinator of the European Project H2020-DT-NMBP-09-2018 SimDOME (2019–2023). He also participates in the EURATOM CONNECT-NM project, aimed at the creation of a knowledge base for nuclear applications.
He is a member of the European Materials Modelling Council and the lead developer of the EMMO ontology.
He is the author of over 80 papers in international peer-reviewed journals.
