Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to follow a lesson in German, to read a complex text about social or political sciences and make an oral report on it in German. To this purpose they should reach a minimum level of B1 (Council of Europe framework) for spoken and written German, while the ideal level is B2, and a minimum level of B1 for reading comprehension – ideal level B2.
Course contents
The whole course is composed of a series of 30 hours of lectures and 40 hours of laboratory work dedicated to improve grammatical competence and practice written and spoken German. The labs are streamed according to the level of knowledge ascertained in the entry test.
The 30 hours course is organized into two modules:
-One module will be devoted to reading and analyzing written and oral texts focusing on specific themes which are related to the disciplines of the degree programme.
-The second module will be devoted to discussiong the topics treated in the texts and to improving writing skills in German.

Teaching methods
The language laboratory is aimed at allowing students to achieve a good level of linguistic and communicative competence.
Lectures are aimed at developing skills in order to comprehend and interpret written and oral specialized texts, and to produce written texts in German. The course will be held in German and will be dedicated to B1 students.
Assessment methods
The exame takes place online and consists of two written tests and one oral exam. The grammatical test concerns the morph-syntactic aspects of German, primarily the subjunctive I and II, the participles, the passive, the reported speech, the adverbial secondary phrases.
The other written test consists of a text comprehension test and a short composition.

The oral test is focused on the communicative competences, on the ability of oral expression using articles about actuality and politics taken from the Internet and German newspapers and reviews.
The student must inform the teacher of the topic beforehand.
