The University Quality Committee (PQA) adopts a participatory approach to support continuous improvement in teaching, research and the third mission, in line with the University's strategy
It forms part of the Quality Assurance System, together with the Evaluation Group.
What it does
The University Quality Committee acts as a point of reference for the promotion, coordination and monitoring of Quality Assurance activities. It collaborates with the University’s structures to ensure consistency, continuity and transparency in processes, thus contributing to continuous improvements in teaching, research and the third mission. In particular, it:
- promotes a culture of quality;
- fosters the implementation of information and training initiatives;
- supports the monitoring and reviewing of the Quality Assurance System;
- proposes, verifies and disseminates Quality Assurance methods, tools and guidelines, with a focus on designing, monitoring and self-assessing degree programmes, PhD programmes and strategic departmental objectives;
- oversees the information flows that support periodic evaluations and analyses;
- interacts with the University's governing bodies, the Ministry, ANVUR, the Evaluation Commissions (CEV), any internal evaluation bodies, and other public and private parties involved in the QA system;
- monitors the implementation of the measures taken following the recommendations and conditions formulated by ANVUR during the initial and periodic accreditation activities of degree programmes and PhD programmes.
Composition
The University Quality Committee comprises people with complementary competences and roles, representing the University’s main areas of activity. Its composition reflects the interdisciplinary and transversal nature of the committee, ensuring coordinated action on quality issues.
The University Quality Committee is chaired by Prof. Rino Ghelfi, acting as the Rector’s delegate.

Insights into the establishment of the body
The Quality Committee was established pursuant to Italian Min. Decree 47/2013 and the ANVUR Document on the Self-Assessment, Evaluation and Accreditation of the Italian University System. With the entry into force of the amendments to the University Statute implemented by R.D. no. 236/2024 of 20/02/2024 (published in Official Journal General Series no. 50 of 29/02/2024), it became a University Body (see article 11 of the University Statute).
Its roles and composition are defined by the Regulations of the University Quality Committee (PQA), approved by the Academic Senate in its session of 18 July 2023 and updated on 22 December 2024.
