Programme profile

The 1stcycle Degree Programme in Civil Engineering aims to produce graduates able tounderstand, manage and solve medium-difficulty problems linked to the design ofstructures and infrastructures, the implementation, management and control ofcivil works, buildings, hydraulic works, infrastructures, transport systems andsurveying.
In the firstyear the curriculum offers solid grounding in the cognitive elements requiredto know and understand the methodological and operational aspects ofmathematical analysis, mathematical physics, geometry and rational mechanics. The selected core learning activities aim to allow students to acquireanalytical skills and understand the methodological and operational proceduresof the sciences underlying civil engineering: construction science and technique, hydraulics and hydraulic constructions, road infrastructures, transport systemsand topography. These contents are covered from year two, and are completedwith modern methods, techniques and instruments, practical exercises and simpledesign works, allowing students to perform practical exercises, produce simpledesign works, developing appropriate skills in the design of medium-complexworks using recurrent calculation methods.Elective courses aim toenhance and complete the training, with units in specific scientific areasrelating to geology and geological applications, materials sciences andtechnologies and technical physics.

The School of Engineering and Architecture allows students to perform an internship in order to get credits (CFU) included in the study plan according to the rules set by the degree programmes.
‘Curricular' internship is a learning activity included in the study plan. It can be compulsory or elective, depending on the degree programme, and can be performed both in Universities or other organizations, in Italy or abroad. Some degree programmes allow students to perform internships in preparation for the final thesis.
Graduates within 12 months after graduation are offered the possibility to perform an ‘orientation' internship in order to get a deeper knowledge of the work field.
Further details on the School website page about internships.

International mobility

As part of its educational opportunities, every year the School fosters programmes and international agreements enabling undergraduates and graduates to attend degree programmes , take exams, participate in company internships or research programmes in the most famous European and extra-European universities or other institutions.
