Learning outcomes
Molecular mechanisms of genetic disorders.
Course contents
DNA variation in the human genome, mutations and polymorphisms,
molecular basis for disease. Mendelian inheritance and monogenic
disorders. Complications to the basic Mendelian inheritance
patterns. Linkage analysis. Genetic and physical mapping of the
human genome. Identification of disease genes. The Human Genome
Project and sequencing of the genome. Genetic analysis of
multifactorial disorders. Association studies and linkage
disequilibrium mapping.
