Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to read, report, and discuss papers or texts related to the social and political sciences in the French language, using lexicon and syntax at a minimum level of B1, and an ideal level of at least B2, according to the Council of Europe Framework. Moreover, students must be able to write and organize a brief text, using at least B2 level lexicon and syntax.
Course contents
Title of the course: Formes de médiation
The course will consist of two parts:
Part 1: During the second part of the course (20 hours), students will focus on the concept of representation in view of the encounter of different cultures. Intercultural mediation is particularly developed in contexts where the encounter/conflict between different cultures and languages produces various and original types of mediation. Therefore, the French-speaking context is chosen in order to encourage students to recognize the linguistic and cultural elements characterizing the types of mediation experiences analyzed.
Part 2: Students are expected to attend language classes (20 hours) and aiming at consolidating and improving the skills of comprehension and production of French language. At the end of the first part of the course, there will be an oral exam whose grade will be averaged with the grade of the second part of the course.

Assessment methods
Attending students:
At the end of the first part of the course, there will be an oral exam aiming at evaluating the student’s skills of comprehension and production of French language.
At the end of the second part of the course, there will be a written exam , whose grade will be averaged with the grade of the first part of the course.
Non-attending students:
At the end of the course, there will be an oral exam concerning the entire course program. The language used during the oral exam is expected to be French.
