- Professional Profile
- Pursuant to Decree no. 270 of 22 October 2004 of the Ministry of Education, University and Research, for academic year 2025/2026, Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, Administrative office of Bologna, will run a 1st level Professional Master’s Program in “Sustainability Management”.
The Professional Master’s Program has been set up on the proposal of the Department of Management – DISA and is run in collaboration with Fondazione Bologna Business School (BBS).
The Master in Sustainability Management is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge needed to tackle major global challenges and advance their professional careers in the international sustainability landscape.
This program is specifically tailored for full-time working professionals aiming to develop their expertise in embedding sustainability within companies and industrial ecosystems.
Facing a universal imperative, focusing on sustainability is now more critical than ever. It is the necessary condition to navigate and simplify recovery from crises and associated social issues, driving us toward a more prosperous future where individuals, businesses, and institutions can collaborate for collective social and environmental well-being. - Note

Interested persons must indicate their willingness directly to the professional master programme Administration Office by the enrolment deadline. Acceptance of the request will be communicated by 01/01/2027.
If not, all auditor places are filled by the above deadline, the Director reserves the right to also assess applications received later, until the available places are filled and, in any case, no later than the beginning of the lessons.

- The program is reserved for candidates who, by the time of enrolment
03/06/2026 for window 1, 28/07/2026 for window 2, 06/10/2026 for window 3, 16/12/2026 for window 4,
are in possession of the following qualifications and access requirements:
• All first cycle degree and/or second / single cycle degree obtained under D.M. 270/04 or first cycle degree and/or second / single cy-cle degree obtained under the laws previously in force (DM 509/99 and Old Regulations);
• First cycle degree and/or second / single cycle degree obtained abroad deemed equivalent to those described
in the point above by the admission committee, for the purposes of admission to the Master; - Linguistic skills
- English Language Proficiency certificate (TOEFL, IELTS or Cam-bridge English) certifying a minimum English level of B2 in the Eu-ropean framework. Candidates who do not possess this certifi-cate will have to take a written test to assess their language skills.
- Other requirements
- The required documents for the selection process are listed in the proce-dural instructions (double-sided copy of a valid identity document; aca-demic qualification and transcript) and must be submitted with the spe-cific documents listed below:
a) Curriculum Vitae in English;
b) Motivational Letter in English (optional);
c) Reference Letters in English (optional);
d) A photo of the candidate for identity recognition purposes;
e) English Language Proficiency certificate (TOEFL, IELTS or Cam-bridge English) certifying a minimum English level of B2 in the Eu-ropean framework. Candidates who do not possess this certifi-cate will have to take a written test to assess their language skills.
f) If available, GMAT or GRE certificate, with a score of 550 or above (GMAT) or equivalent (GRE). Candidates without this certificate will have to take a written aptitude test.
Candidates with a degree obtained abroad, if they pass the selection pro-cedures, must show the original hard copies of these documents to the Master’s Office. - Selection criteria
- Admission to the Master is subject to a positive total score of the selec-tion process, which is based on a written aptitude test in English, a writ-ten English language test and a motivational interview in English.
The maximum score given by the Admission Board is 100 points. A minimum score of 60/100 must be achieved to pass the selection.
The written aptitude test and the written language test do not award any points but are instead judged on a pass/fail basis as a necessary qualification to attend the motivational interview.
All selection tests will take place online in videoconference mode, at a time that will be communicated and in any case between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Italian time.
Candidates attending the test must bring a valid identification document with them.
The Admission Board is appointed by the Program Director.
The person in charge of the selection procedure is the Program Director of Studies.
The evaluation process will take place:
- for those enrolled to window 1: 30/04/2026 (written aptitude test and written language test) and 12/05/2026 (motivational interview)
- for those enrolled to window 2: 02/07/2026 (written aptitude test and written language test) and 07/07/2026 (motivational interview)
- for those enrolled to window 3: 10/09/2026 (written aptitude test and written language test) and 15/09/2026 (motivational interview)
- for those enrolled to window 4: 05/11/2026 (written aptitude test and written language test) and 13/11/2026 (motivational interview)
Admission to the professional master program is granted to eligible candidates, within the limits of available seats, based on the ranking drawn up on in accordance with the total score awarded.
In the event of two candidates with the same score, the candidate with the highest score in the motivational interview will be ranked higher. In case of a further tie, the younger candidate will be ranked higher

The Project Work is developed in groups and focuses on real cases, provided by companies within the BBS Business Network or suggested by the participants. It is a collaborative and practical experience that enables participants to apply the knowledge gained during the program to real business situations.
The Internship involves a work period within a company, allowing participants to immerse themselves in a professional environment, develop operational skills, and put academic knowledge into practice.
