Teaching methods
Face-to-face lectures.
Attendancy not compulsory. However, as it is impossible to provide a valuable coverage of the content of the course through a limited number of references, attendancy is strongly recommended. Slides and other material will be at best a surrogate for the failure to attend.
Assessment methods
Short essay on a subject to be decided upon together with the lecturer.
The essay will have to concern a problem linked to the general content of the course, albeit not necessarily related to one of the issues discussed during the course itself.
The selection of the theme is conditioned upon the existence of adequate material, which will have to be verified at the beginning.
Thre are no specific requirements in terms of the dimension of the essay, however measured. What is essential, is an adequate coverage of the most relevant material and sources.
The essay will have to be submitted to the lecturer in the subsequent steps of its development, so that it might be possible to introduce - if necessary - timely corrections and/or changes.
Once approved, the work will be discussed orally with the lecturer. In the discussion, reference may be made to the main concepts and notions touched upon during the course.
Assessment Criteria:
18-21: basic survey of the literature, without original contributions
22-24: survey with substantial bibliographic references
25-28: critical insights, substantial bibliographic references
