Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student knows the basic elements (terms, concepts and methods) for the analysis of the structure, functions and textual organization of the Italian language; is able to understand, analyze and produce a wide range of texts written in Italian; will be able to autonomously develop further knowledge and higher-level metalinguistic and communicative skills and apply them to other linguistic phenomena and to other Italian texts.

Course contents

The course is divided in two modules: module A on contemporary italian (topics of Italian grammar and standard varieties of language); module B on Textual linguistics (and writing seminar).

Attendance is not mandatory. If you decide to not attend, please tell the teacher via mail.

INCOMING STUDENTS: The course held by prof. Gatta requires a good knoledge of italian Language.

There is one other course "Lingua italiana " (6 cfu, first semester) expressly created for incoming students. Incoming students who wish to attend the course of Italian linguistics are kindly requested to contact prof. Gatta at the beginning of the lessons, during her office hours. .

Full reading of the two books is recommended.

If you do not attend the lessons, you must add to the required readings with the complete reading of Prima di tradurre. Sei lezioni di linguistica testuale propedeutiche alla traduzione, Bononia University Press, 2021.

 

You have also to do the MOOC available on Virtuale (https://moodle.dipintra.it/course/view.php?id=68)

On the Virtuale platform, on the course website, useful materials for the course will be uploaded and self-assessment activities will be available to support studying. It is mandatory to complete the required activities on Virtuale in order to be allowed to take the final written exams.

It is recommended to read both manuals in full.

 

To access the final written exam, students must document the required activity for non-attending students by uploading on Virtuale the badge issued upon completion of the MOOC, have completed the required activities on Virtuale, and upload the file with the exercises from the manual.

In addition to the compulsory texts, further readings will be suggested during the course, which students will be required to read and present in class (Module A: seminar component).

 

Assessment methods

Module A: after some lectures in which the topics covered in the course will be presented, classes will take place in a seminar format.

Module B: seminar classes.

MOOC freely accessible to students enrolled in the course (mandatory for non-attending students).

The classes in both modules will be supplemented by materials uploaded on the Virtuale platform.

If you do not attend the lessons, you have to sbmitt the written exercises of the book Prima di tradurre, to complete the assignements upload in Virtuale, and the MOOC badge.

You have to take both exams together, module A and module B.

 

Students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) or with disabilities that can affect their ability to attend courses are invited to contact the University service for students with disabilities and SLD at the earliest opportunity -- ideally before the start of the course: https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en/for-students.
