Learning outcomes

The Biology course aims to provide students with a solid and integrated preparation in the fundamentals of biology, which is essential for understanding physiological and pathological processes addressed in subsequent courses within the biomedical field. The Biology course will be structured into 7 teaching units: Teaching Unit 1. The foundations of the biological and molecular organization of life (teaching workload evaluated in ECTS = 0.75). Teaching Unit 2. Cellular mechanisms of transmission and control of genetic and epigenetic information (teaching workload evaluated in ECTS = 0.5). Teaching Unit 3. The flow of information (teaching workload evaluated in ECTS = 1.0). Teaching Unit 4. Cellular mechanisms of transmission and control of wild-type and mutant traits (teaching workload evaluated in ECTS = 0.75). Teaching Unit 5. Cellular structures: biogenesis, morphology, and functions (teaching workload evaluated in ECTS = 1.5). Teaching Unit 6. The cell and its environment, cell signaling, and signal transduction (teaching workload evaluated in ECTS = 0.75). Teaching Unit 7. Control of cell proliferation and survival (teaching workload evaluated in ECTS = 0.75).
