Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will have knowledge of the general concepts of professional ethics, deontology, and professional responsibility in healthcare.

Course contents

The Bioethics course is part of the integrated course HUMAN, PSYCHOPEDAGOGICAL, PREVENTION AND SERVICE SCIENCES.

The specific contents of this course are:

Introduction to the bioethics of the caring relationship, brief history of bioethics, autonomy and decision-making capacity in neurological patients, ethical dilemmas in neurodegenerative diseases, profession and ethical responsibility of the neurophysiopathology technician, teamwork and shared responsibility.

Readings/Bibliography

PowerPoint presentations used during the lectures represent the materials for the exam, along with selected scientific articles on the topics discussed in class.
All materials will be made available after each class on the teaching support platform Virtuale – Virtual Learning Environment of the University of Bologna, with access restricted to university students.

Assessment methods

For the purposes of the assessment of the Integrated Course HUMAN, PSYCHOPEDAGOGICAL, PREVENTION AND SERVICES SCIENCES, the partial results obtained in the individual tests of the courses making up the integrated course will be taken into account, with a weighted average based on the respective credits (CFU).

Specifically, the exam for the course Bioethics will take an oral form.

The exam will cover the contents indicated in the Texts/Bibliography section. Assessment will take into account the student's knowledge of the topics, ability to connect them to professional practice, and presentation skills.

The dates of the exam sessions within the exam windows will be visible on the Almaesami platform.

Registration for the exam must be carried out through the Almaesami application (https://almaesami.unibo.it/almaesami/welcome.htm )

Prior registration on Almaesami is required and, in case of withdrawal, cancellation must be done within the prescribed time frame to allow for proper organization of the exam session.

Students who, due to disability, specific learning disorders (SLD/DSA), or temporary or permanent disabilities, require compensatory or alternative tools may communicate their needs to the Professor in order to agree on the most appropriate measures.

It is also recommended to contact the relevant University office in good time (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/it ): this office will propose any necessary adaptations to interested students, which must in any case be submitted, at least 15 days in advance, for the Professor's approval, who will assess their appropriateness also in relation to the course's learning objectives.
