Learning outcomes

This course addresses the study of social psychology and cultural anthropology and the sciences in general and some specific insights consistent with the general aims of the Master's Degree Course. In particular, at the end of the course, students will be familiar with: (a) the main psychological theories involved in self-knowledge; (b) the psychological processes underlying the issue of attitudes, in particular stereotypes and prejudices, opinions and behaviour; (c) basic elements of group psychology and the dynamics involved; (d) social influence, communication and persuasive communication models, useful for understanding and managing interpersonal and group dynamics.

Course contents

The program will focus on the study of social psychology, declined in its general and specific aspects. In fact, this discipline represents an important tool for the interpretation of reality, not necessarily aimed at the training of psychologists/psychologists alone, but also of educators and educators, of and teachers and all professional figures who revolve around the world of education and training.

The course includes an in-depth examination of the theoretical framework of the discipline, within which some of its most important topics will be presented - the self, the formation of attitudes, the topic of prejudice and stereotypes, and communication.

Teaching methods

Lessons will be face-to-face, conducted in an active and collaborative manner. The involvement of the student in the classroom will be highly valued; the questions and issues that may arise in this context are particularly useful for both individual study and group reflection.

Assessment methods

The examination consists of a written test comprising two open-ended questions.

Assessment Criteria

Students are informed that grading will be carried out as follows:

• Each of the three answers will be assigned a mark on a 30-point scale.
• The final grade will be calculated as the arithmetic average of the three marks obtained.

The assessment will take into account not only knowledge of the theoretical content, but also a range of transferable skills, including:

• the accurate use of psychological terminology;
• the ability to describe experiments and theoretical approaches;
• clarity of exposition;
• critical thinking and reflective skills.

Important note: passing the examination is contingent upon answering all the questions.
