Learning outcomes
The course aims at providing students with suitable tools for the selection, the design and the monitoring of main interventions for the improvement of the geotechnical properties of soils, with particular emphasis on slope stability analyses and relevant stabilisation methods. At the end of the course, the student i) knows principles and procedures for the definition of the appropriate geotechnical model; ii) develops competencies to apply design criteria and assess the most suitable intervention technologies for soil improvement. The student also learns how to deal with the stability analysis of a slope, natural or man-made, and is able to identify the different intervention methodologies for the mitigation of the associated risk.
