PhD in Geotechnical Engineering at the Technical University of Torino (1992). Marie Curie Research Fellow at the Universities of Oxford and Southampton. Past President of the National Group of Geotechnical Engineering (GNIG). Author and co-author of about 150 scientific papers, in particular on the physical and analytical modelling of the behaviour of shallow foundations and on the analysis and monitoring of river embankments under transient flow.
