B8593 - LABORATORIO IN PREPARAZIONE DELLA TESI

Academic Year 2026/2027

  • Teaching Mode: In-person learning (entirely or partially)
  • Campus: Forli
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in International Politics and Economics (cod. 6763)

Learning outcomes

The thesis preparation laboratory aims at providing students with the necessary tools to write their Master's thesis. Specifically, the workshop intends to offer students detailed knowledge regarding the structure and organization of the thesis, as well as the appropriate writing criteria for drafting the text, with particular emphasis on the collection and systematization of bibliographic sources, both primary and secondary. By the end of the laboratory, students will have acquired the skills required to organize the research work that is needed for writing a thesis in the fields of political science and economics.

Course contents

The workshop is designed as a space to support students in the preparation of their final dissertation. The first two classes will introduce some fundamental aspects of dissertation work: defining the research question, developing the argument, organizing the structure of the text, using the literature critically, and observing the main conventions of academic writing.

The remaining part of the course will be devoted to the presentation and discussion of students’ dissertation projects. Each participant will present their research topic, the current state of their work, the main sources used, and the difficulties encountered. The presentations will be followed by a collective discussion aimed at developing skills in critical reading, argumentation, and revision of one’s own work.

Readings/Bibliography

The material will be provided directly by the instructor.
