Learning outcomes
The goal of this course is to introduce students to the overview of corporate financing, principles of valuation and capital budgeting (criteria for investment decision and cash flow estimation), optimal capital structure and the cost of capital.
Course contents
Topics covered in this course include:
- Corporate value creation: project valuation and capital budgeting;
- Firm valuation;
- Cost of capital, measuring risk and return;
- Equity financing (Venture Capital, IPO, SEO);
- Determinants of capital structure decision;
- WACC and APV.

Teaching methods
Theoretical lectures, applications, exercises and case studies.
Assessment methods
Written exam.
Mid term exams will last 25 minutes. Full exams will last 50 minutes. Check on the course syllabus published on Virtuale for further info on exam structure.
Teaching tools
One session will be conducted online and dedicated to the analysis of a real-life case study. Using Excel and other relevant tools, students will apply corporate finance concepts to practical business situations. Screen sharing and interactive discussion will facilitate the examination of real-world financial issues and decision-making processes.
