Learning outcomes

The student masters the basic terms and concepts of Italian linguistics and is able to analyze texts from different types, using the tools of linguistic research.

Course contents

  • The features of contemporary Italian: Vocabulary, Phonetics and Phonology, Inflectional and Lexical Morphology, Syntax and Textuality, Onomastics.
  • The spoken and written varieties of contemporary Italian.

Classroom lectures.

Assessment methods

Oral examination. If many students show up the examination might go on during the following day or days.

  • knowledge of the terms and concepts of the subject
  • ability to produce relevant examples
  • ability to analyze texts based on the knowledge acquired
  • argumentative skills
  • clarity
