Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student has in-depth knowledge of the history of modern German literature, with particular attention to the relationship between literary texts and the historical, artistic and linguistic context. Moreover, he knows how to use practical methodologies for the analysis and interpretation of poems.

Course contents

The cours deals with German-Jewish poets in exile in the 20th century.

In particularly, il is dedicated to the a selection of poems by Rose Ausländer, Paul Celan and Nelly Sachs.

The course is held in German language.

The teacher will upload to Virturale the materials and texts dealt with during the course and to be prepared for the exam. These materials have to be used only by the students of the course.

During the course, students are required to present a poem of their choice that goes beyond those delt with in class. (Non-attending students will present it during the exam.)
