Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student develops diagnostic reasoning skills, clinical reasoning and develops methodological skills related to care planning. Apply the knowledge acquired related to technical, relational and educational skills. Develops therapeutic education projects. The activity is developed in preparation for the internship experience.

Course contents

The Professionalizing Laboratory program is developed in modules aimed at acquiring technical and gestural skills that represent the practical application of the knowledge learned during the theoretical lessons.

A1. Drainage management: drop, suction, thoracic drainage

A2. Dressings 2: evaluation and management of surgical and non-surgical wounds, complex dressings LDD 2nd and 3rd degree and Vac Therapy

A3a. Stoma management: management and dressing of urostomy, bladder irrigation

A3b. Stoma management: management and dressing of ileo and colon stoma

B1a. Operating Path: surgical washing and sterile field preparation

B1b. Anesthesia operating path: reception in induction room and anesthesia trolley

B2. Bandaging and immobilization: application of knee and shoulder braces, limb fixing, bandages

C1. Tracheostomy management: hygiene and cannula change, hygiene and peristomal care, filter management, endotracheal suction

C2. Vascular access 2: PICC, PORT, MidLine management

D1a. Pediatric procedures: auxological parameter measurement, neonatal screening

D1b. Pediatric procedures: urine sampling and collection

E1. Relationship laboratory 2: strategies, techniques and emotions involved in mourning

Teaching methods

The lessons will take place within the Laboratory of the Degree Course. The teaching method consists of the practical simulation, by the student, of procedures updated according to the canons of Evidence Based Practice. The students will be assisted by nurses and expert educational coordinators during the execution of the activities; the activities will be preceded by briefing moments and concluded with debriefing moments in order to focus the student's attention on the general principles of the procedures. Some modules will be carried out in highly specialized clinical settings

Assessment methods

The final exam will be held in written mode, with multiple choice quizzes.
