Learning outcomes

Course contents
Attendance is considered essential for successful completion of the course. AND FASHION: IMAGES TELL
Upon completion of the seminar, the student knows and understands some relevant aspects of the evolution of fashion and the change in aesthetic canons since the 16th century.
The seminar aims to expose students to the methods and tools of clothing history from the Renaissance onward through a selection of paintings and engravings significant to the change in taste.
After a few introductory lectures on the history of fashion and its research methods, students will be assigned—individually or in groups—an artwork chosen either by the instructor or by the students themselves from a selected list.
Each week, every student or group will work on the analysis of the chosen work, including visual analysis, bibliographic research, and the study of a text provided by the instructor. At the end of the process, the results will be presented in class through a PowerPoint presentation and discussed with peers.
Attendance is considered essential for successful completion of the course.
