Learning outcomes

The student knows basic terms and concepts of Italian linguistics; can analyze texts belonging to different textual types, using the tools of linguistic research.

Course contents

History of the Italian grammars from their origins to the present day. Classroom lessons will focus on the period from the 15th to the 17th century.

Students not attending classes should meet the lecturer during office hours to agree on the course literature.

Oral examination. If many students show up the examination might go on during the following day or days.

  • knowledge of the terms and concepts of the subject
  • ability to produce relevant examples
  • ability to analyze texts based on the knowledge acquired
  • argumentative skills
  • clarity
