Learning outcomes
By the end of the workshop, students will have acquired skills in the practical application of the knowledge developed during their courses, enabling them to engage effectively in the study of musical semiography in orally transmitted traditions and in their analysis.
Course contents
During the laboratory, various methods of sound recording and production of audiovisual documentation in ethnomusicology will be presented. Different tools and systems for ethnomusicological transcription and analysis will be discussed from a historiographical and methodological perspective. Based on audio-video examples agreed upon with the lecturer, students will become familiar and experiment with different tools and systems for transcribing oral traditional music.

Selected readings will be discussed in a seminar format during the sessions with the lecturer.
Teaching methods
Oral teaching supported by audio and video materials. The laboratory involves seminar activities by and with the students.
Assessment methods
Assessment based on active participation during the sessions and a final exercise agreed with the lecturer.
