Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will have acquired knowledge of the main clinical features of the most common conditions requiring surgical treatment, and will be able to recognize them in individual patients.

They will be able to correlate specific symptoms with these diseases within the context of community medicine and understand the basic principles of their diagnostic workup.

The student will also become familiar with the terminology of the main surgical procedures and basic notions of surgical technique, in order to understand the potential — particularly functional — consequences of an operation.

Finally, the student will acquire fundamental knowledge of the sequelae of the most common surgical procedures and the principles of follow-up, especially in the field of neoplastic diseases.
