I am a
General Surgeon with over thirty years of clinical experience, including more than nine as
Head of a Surgical Department.
Since 2014, I have been an
Associate Professor of General Surgery at the University of Bologna, and I carry out my clinical and research activities at
S. Maria delle Croci Hospital in Ravenna (AUSL Romagna).
My main focus is
minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) colorectal surgery, with special interest in
colorectal cancer,
inflammatory bowel disease,
geriatric oncology, and
proctology.
I have contributed to the advancement of
laparoscopic techniques and the implementation of
ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) protocols to improve postoperative outcomes.
Trained at the University of Bologna, I also completed research fellowships in the United States at
Massachusetts General Hospital – Harvard Medical School and
Brown University.
Author of more than
100 peer-reviewed scientific publications (H-index 30), I integrate clinical work, research, and teaching to promote an
innovative, evidence-based, and patient-centered surgery.
