Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student possesses knowledge, as far as his/her competence is concerned, relating to the care activity in the field of pathophysiology and medical semiotics of adulthood and geriatrics.

- Introduction to Internal Medicine. Outline of Clinical Methodology and Medical Semeiotics.

- Geriatric patient. Fragility and Multimorbidity. Geriatric multidimensional assessment. Geriatric syndromes. Sarcopenia and Body Composition Assessment in the Elderly

- Cardiovascular diseases of adults and the elderly

- Diabetes Mellitus of adults and the elderly

- Diseases of the liver, pancreas and gastrointestinal diseases

- Kidney and urinary tract pathologies

- Respiratory diseases

- Anaemia

- Autoimmune diseases and vasculitis

- Delirium and Dementia

- Osteoporosis, falls and fractures

- Dehydration and electrolyte imbalances

- Malnutrition in the elderly

- Pain in the elderly

- Infections in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics

- Network of territorial services

Assessment methods

The exam consists of a written test (multiple choice questions).

As it is an integrated course, the test consists of 90 questions (15 questions x 6 subjects).

Each question has three answers, of which only one is true.

To pass the exam, the student must correctly answer at least

5 of 15 questions per subject and
54 of 90 questions overall (18/30).

The scheme for converting the score into 30ths is as follows:
