Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to analyze signals and systems both in the time and in the frequency domain, to design algorithms for signals processing, to design the building blocks for analog to digital and digital to analog conversion, to apply tools from probability and statistics for data analysis.
Course contents
Introduction: signals and their processing. Communication systems and networks.
Analysis of signals through the Fourier transform. Continuous-time and discrete-time signals and their spectral characterization.
Linear time-invariant systems. The system transfer function, impulse response.
Baseband analog and digital signals. Analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion.
Finite power signals, power spectrum.
Elements of probability theory.
