Learning outcomes
Students will review fundamental elements of the English language as well as be able to understand and produce a wide range of written texts and converse on issues, spontaneously and fluently in English.
Course contents
The course will be in two parts: lectures on culture studies and a writing workshop. It is phase two of the previous year. Students will work with their writing portfolios from the previous year. More information will be provided at the beginning of the semester.
*Prerequisite for the course is: 69270 - English Language and Culture I (Second Language). Students that did not attend the previous L&C I need to contact Prof. Mitzel in advance.

Teaching methods
The course will be a blend of traditional lectures with open class discussions/debates and in class writing assignments. Students will also be able to express their ideas, researched opinions in written and verbal forms.

Assessment methods
Information will be provided during the course.
**Students are required to attend a minimum of 70% of total classes.
Marks
30-30L: Excellent level. The candidate possesses excellent translation, with a very high level of competence in the target language.
27-29: Above average level. The candidate makes only minor errors, and shows a solid command of the required skills and competences.
24–26: Generally sound level. The candidate displays a number of shortcomings, indicating a reasonable command of the required skills and competences.
21-23: Adequate level. The candidate displays significant shortcomings and only an adequate command of the required skills and competences.
18–20: Minim. level. The candidate only meets the minimum level required and shows a minimal command of the required skills and competences.
< 18 Fail: The candidate does not meet the required standard and shows a wholly inadequate command of the required skills and competences.

Teaching tools
Course specific PPT presentations, documentaries, websites, podcasts, and social media applications. Assignments and activities will be carried out both in class and at home.
Most if not all printed and audiovisual material used in class, as well as resources for the specific topics tackled in class, will be made available on the Virtuale e-learning site.
