Student Associations and Cooperatives

Registration is reserved for university student Associations and Cooperatives that meet certain requirements (Article 2 of the Regulations):

• have at least 100 members enrolled at the University of Bologna, no later than the first year past the envisaged completion time, who have acquired no less than 9 ECTS credits in the last academic year (for student cooperatives, students who meet the requirements must represent at least 4/5 of the total number of members and in any case be no fewer than 100);
• be formally established with a duly registered deed of incorporation and statute, in accordance with the requirements of Article 3 of the Regulations;
• the corporate offices must be held by members who meet the above requirements (for student Cooperatives, students who meet the requirements must hold at least 2/3 of the positions, including that of Chairperson). 

The main steps to be entered in the Register.

1. Once the eligibility requirements have been checked, make an appointment with the Right to Higher Education Sector – Budget and Cultural Activities Promotion Office to obtain support and clarification on how to submit your application correctly.

2. For Associations and Cooperatives not yet established, prepare the Deed of Incorporation and Statute:

   The deed of incorporation and the statute must be registered with the Italian Revenue Agency. Before registering and submitting their application for entry in the Register, Associations and Cooperatives should send their deed of incorporation and statutes to the Budget and Cultural Activities Promotion Office for a preliminary check of their compatibility with the provisions of Article 3 of the Regulations.

   Already established Associations and Cooperatives are invited to submit the two registered deeds.

3. Collect the signatures of the Student Members together with their identity documents:

4. Submit the application
   Fill in the registration form [.docx 208 KB] (in Italian). The application signed by the Chairperson must be submitted to the Right to Higher Education Sector – Budget and Cultural Activities Promotion Office, together with all the documents required by Article 4 of the Regulations.

The application for registration may be submitted at any time of the year.

Registration, ordered by Rector's Decree, is valid for two years from the date of the provision.

Changes in the Corporate Bodies of Student Associations and Cooperatives must be communicated to the Budget and Promotion of Cultural Activities Office by submitting the minutes of the General Meetings.

Two years from the date of the Rector's Decree of Registration, registered Associations and Cooperatives must submit a request for renewal of their inclusion in the Register within 30 days. The procedures are described in Article 4 of the Regulations.

Every year, the University awards grants to accredited student Associations and Cooperatives for the implementation of self-managed cultural, sporting and recreational initiatives and activities.

Funding is allocated annually through a call for applications.

The 2026 call for applications expired on 20 November 2025.

University student Associations and Cooperatives may participate if, at the time of application, they:

• are registered in the Register of student Associations and Cooperatives recognised by the University of Bologna;
• have already submitted an application for entry in the Register and for which the verification of compliance with the requirements is in progress.

Student Associations and Cooperatives that are beneficiaries of the grant under the call for applications may obtain a contribution to cover the rental costs for the premises used as their headquarters.

The criteria for awarding the grant and incompatibilities are specified in the call for applications.

1. Fill in the Application Form, the Activity Sheet Form (one for each activity for which funding is requested) and the Financial Plans Form using the templates available in the "Other documents" section of the call for applications page.
2. Send the forms to: ases.associazionistudentesche@unibo.it. Submission must be made by the Chairperson from their institutional email address (@studio.unibo.it).

Any request for a contribution towards the rental of the association's premises must be submitted in the same application for participation in the call for proposals by ticking the appropriate box on the Application Form.

Associations and Cooperatives are required to report the activities carried out with the awarded grant using the appropriate forms. 

For the grant awarded in 2025, it is necessary to report:

• as soon as the first tranche has been fully used;
• at the end of the initiatives for which the second tranche was used, and in any case by 8 January 2026.

The report must be accompanied by all the expenditure documents showing consistency between the expense incurred and the initiative carried out and the payment made, as well as by the material produced (by way of example: newspapers, posters, leaflets, and anything else that certifies the completion of the initiatives). 

The report must scrupulously follow the indications contained in the grant award letters and in the 2025 call for applications.

There are currently no open calls for application for space allocation.
