EPO (European Patent Office) and EUIPO

(European Union Intellectual Property Office) offer 12-month paid internships at their headquarters for recent graduates.

The Pan-European Seal Professional program consists of two distinct paths:

  • Pan-European Seal Young Professionals Program, promoted by the EPO;
  • Pan-European Seal Traineeship Program, promoted by the EUIPO.

Those who submit an expression of interest to the EPO cannot also submit an expression of interest to the EUIPO, and vice versa.

Pan-European Seal Young Professionals Program (EPO)

Starting with this edition of the program, those interested in participating in the selection process for the EPO internship must register exclusively on the EPO website, without participating in any University call for applications.

The admission requirements set by the EPO are:

  • be a citizen of one of the EPO member countries;
  • have obtained a bachelor's or master's degree from the University of Bologna or expect to obtain it by the start of the traineeship, scheduled for September 2026;
  • excellent knowledge of at least one of the following languages: English, French, and German (assessment will be carried out during the interview by the EPO);
  • interest in the following areas of activity: Science and Engineering, IT, Business Administration; International Relations and Communications; Law (including Patent Law); Economics and Finance.

For more information on the selection process, please visit the EPO website

By visiting the EPO website, you can already enter your details to receive updates on the selection procedure and the deadlines for submitting your application.

Subsequently, following the selection process carried out by the EPO, the University will be contacted to confirm the details you entered to apply for internships at the EPO.

Those who do not meet the minimum application requirements or who have also applied for internships at the EUIPO will be excluded from the procedure.

Pan-European Seal Traineeship Programme (EUIPO)

Those interested in participating in the selection process for the EUIPO traineeship must submit their application to the University of Bologna via Studenti Online-Bandi by the 24 February 2026, at 13:00.

Consult the call for applications for the EUIPO traineeship [.pdf 326 KB]

As required by EUIPO procedures, the University will then draw up a list of people potentially eligible for the traineeship (known as a shortlist), which will be sent to EUIPO.

Inclusion on the shortlist does not in itself entitle the applicant to the traineeship, as the final selection will be made exclusively by EUIPO at its sole discretion.

Those included on the University of Bologna's shortlist for EUIPO must then apply on the EUIPO website in accordance with the procedures that will be published online at a later date.
