Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to analyse dependent employment contracts and industrial relations in Italian labour law.

Course contents

The following topics will be covered:

Part I:

- The system of regulatory sources.

- Constitutional rules.

- Collective bargaining: content and different levels.

- Subordinate and self-employment work: notion and discipline.

- The obligations of the employee and the employer.

- Flexible contractual typologies. 

- The anti-discrimination law: prohibitions of discrimination and equal opportunities.

Part II:

- Protection against involuntary unemployment.

- The possibilities of combating in-work poverty

Part III:

- Safety at work: the system of regulatory sources.

Teaching methods

Some lessons are held with the participation of students who will be asked to submit reports. Specialized material will be distributed to attending students also through the appropriate online support platform for teaching.

Assessment methods

The final exam consists of an oral interview on the discussed topics during the course and indicated in the section "Contents".

The evaluation will be carried out taking into consideration the knowledge of the issues, the ability to analyze the jurisprudential and doctrinal theses, the ability to make connections between the different parts of the program, the ability to develop critical arguments, the articulation and accuracy of the exposure.

By way of example, the following criteria will be used to assess the final mark (that will be out of 30/30):

- preparation on a very limited number of topics dealt with in the course and analysis skills that emerges only with the help of the teacher, expression in the overall correct language: 18-19

- preparation on a limited number of topics dealt with in the course and autonomous analysis skills only on purely executive issues, expression in correct language 20-24

- preparation on a wide number of topics covered in the course, ability to make independent choices of critical analysis, mastery of specific terminology: 25-29;

- basically exhaustive preparation on the topics covered in the course, ability to make independent choices of critical analysis and connection, full mastery of specific terminology and ability to argue and self-reflection: 30-30L.

Attending is recommended and verified periodically by the professor.

The reports submitted by students during the lessons are evaluated.

Lessons will be held in the second semester and students can take the exam in the summer session.

In order to take the exam it is necessary to register with the appropriate list through Almaesami.
