Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and develop appropriate aesthetic and therapeutic treatment plans, including through a multidisciplinary approach. They will gain interdisciplinary knowledge and competencies in facial aesthetics in all its aspects. Students will be able to complete an aesthetic clinical record and appropriately refer patients to the most suitable treatment plan.The course will cover the following topics: the role of the dentist, including ethical boundaries and scope of professional practice; topographic anatomy of the face, with emphasis on facial aesthetic units; facial aesthetics and facial aging; facial aesthetic concerns; intraoral aesthetic conditions and smile aesthetics; aesthetics in maxillofacial surgery, including the relationship between orthodontics and orthognathic surgery; volumetric approaches to the treatment of facial aging (facial anatomy applied to injection techniques, the use and properties of injectable resorbable materials, and their indications and contraindications); dentistry and aesthetic medicine, from functional and aesthetic dental rehabilitation to facial harmonization; and legal and regulatory aspects of aesthetic medicine, including informed consent and professional liability/insurance issues.
Course contents
The first consultation in aesthetic medicine; facial and smile aesthetics; the use of aesthetic medicine in dentistry; aesthetic medicine treatments and their clinical applications; legal, regulatory, and professional liability/insurance aspects of aesthetic medicine for dentists.

Oral and/or written exam.
