Learning outcomes

This workshop aims to equip students to critically analyze transitional justice (TJ) as a sociopolitical process that extends beyond legal responses to international crimes. In particular, students will gain: 1) an interdisciplinary understanding of TJ mechanisms and their strengths and limitations; 2) insight into debates around justice, security and peacebuilding in the aftermath of mass atrocities and how these interact with local dynamics; and 3) knowledge of alternative and transformative approaches that challenge dominant models of TJ.
