Academic Year 2026/2027

Learning outcomes

Students are familiar with the main connections between migration and learning processes, particularly regarding the second generations of immigrants, as well as with multicultural family models in relation to the cultures of the countries of origin. They understand the developmental processes of preadolescents and adolescents of foreign origin and have some knowledge of the school systems of their countries of origin. They are familiar with issues related to multiculturalism and interculturality as developed in contemporary research and debate. They possess the skills and knowledge necessary for the understanding and analysis of conflicts and cultural resources present in multiethnic societies, as well as for designing appropriate educational interventions. They understand and are able to apply categorisation processes related to the formation of stereotypes and prejudices from the perspective of overcoming ethnic conflicts; they also understand the historical, social, and cultural dynamics that may lead to racist attitudes and behaviour, making use of the value of respective cultural differences for teaching purposes.
