Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students will have: a) - refreshed and consolidated their knowledge of spelling, grammar and syntax; b) expanded and assessed their lexical, morphological and syntactic skills; c) carried out in-depth reading of narrative, descriptive/informative and argumentative texts, as well as tables and graphs; d) carried out exercises in analysing and breaking down texts in order to reconstruct, expand and summarise them; e) gained an understanding of text types, as well as the analysis and drafting of specialist texts; f) learnt a number of rhetorical strategies

The two links will be available in the coming weeksSpecifically, the 30-hour OFA remedial course organised by the degree programmes in Education Sciences in Social, Cultural and Community Contexts will include targeted activities on the following topics:
a. revision and consolidation of spelling, grammar and syntax;
b. expansion and assessment of lexical, morphological and syntactic skills;
c. in-depth reading of narrative, descriptive/informative and argumentative texts, as well as tables and graphs;
d. analysis and deconstruction of texts in order to reconstruct, expand and summarise them;
e. text types, analysis and drafting of specialist texts;
f. an introduction to rhetorical strategies
Readings/Bibliography
During the course, ad hoc materials prepared by the lecturer will be presented. Further recommendations will be provided during the course.
Attendance is very important and strongly recommended.

Teaching methods
Lectures and discussion-based sessions; distance learning activities via the elearning-cds platform (specific instructions will be provided in class); laboratory work and individual and group exercises.
Assessment methods
The examination will consist of a 60-minute written test, which will assess candidates’ knowledge of spelling, vocabulary, text-related skills (production and comprehension), and logical-linguistic skills.
The results of the examination will be published on the “Almaesami” platform.
PLEASE NOTE: To sit the exam, you must register via the “Almaesami” platform, strictly adhering to the specified deadlines. Anyone unable to register by the deadline due to technical issues must promptly report the problem to the academic office (and in any case before the official closure of the registration lists).
Students enrolled for the 2026–2027 academic year are reminded that it is NOT possible to sit the OFA exam before the course begins, i.e. from January 2027.
Please be advised that the use of AI in any form is prohibited during the exam (chatbots, text generators, advanced translators, and tools built into devices).
