Teaching methods
The educational activities consist of:
- lectures supported by presentation slides;
- practical training during outpatient clinic visits dedicated to nail disorders.
Given the nature of the activities and the teaching methods adopted, attendance in this course is subject to the completion of Modules 1 and 2 of the Health and Safety in the Study Environment training, delivered through e-learning, as well as participation in Module 3 of the specific safety training.
Information regarding the dates and procedures for Module 3 is available in the dedicated section of the Degree Programme website.
Assessment methods
Oral Examination
Assessment consists of an oral examination in the form of an interview with the instructor. During the examination, students will be asked two or three questions covering the topics addressed in the module.
The examination is designed to assess the student's understanding of the course content, their ability to apply the knowledge acquired, to make appropriate logical and deductive connections between the topics covered, and to use scientific and discipline-specific terminology correctly.
The course Skin and Venereal Diseases is part of the Integrated Course in Infectious Diseases, which also includes the course Infectious Diseases. The examinations for both courses must be taken during the same examination session. The Integrated Course is considered successfully completed only if both examinations are passed.
Assessment CriteriaThe final grade is expressed on a scale of 30 points and is based on the student's level of knowledge, clinical reasoning skills, ability to establish appropriate connections between topics, and command of scientific terminology.
The grading criteria are as follows:
- 18–19/30: Knowledge of only a very limited number of topics covered in the course; analytical skills demonstrated only with the instructor's guidance; overall use of appropriate language.
- 20–24/30: Knowledge of a limited number of topics covered in the course; ability to perform independent analysis only on straightforward or procedural issues; correct use of scientific language.
- 25–29/30: Knowledge of a broad range of topics covered in the course; ability to carry out independent critical analysis; good command of discipline-specific terminology.
- 30/30 with Honours: Comprehensive knowledge of the topics covered in the course; ability to perform independent critical analysis and establish meaningful connections between topics; full command of discipline-specific terminology; excellent reasoning, argumentation, and self-reflection skills.
