Course contents

In compliance with Law 104/1992 and Law 170/2010, and in alignment with institutional inclusion policies, students with certified disabilities or specific learning disorders—as well as those with recognized special educational needs—will receive appropriate accommodations during assessments. Such students should promptly contact the course instructor and inform the University’s Disability and SLD Support Service [https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en]. A faculty member is appointed to oversee this service within the Department [https://scienzemedicheveterinarie.unibo.it/it/dipartimento/organizzazione/referenti-istituzionali].

Readings/Bibliography

For the preparation of the present exam it is necessary to have acquired and internalized the competences related to the propaedeutic exams of the first year.

Attendance to the course is mandatory, so the personal lesson notes are used as a track. Using colleagues' notes is not the best choice as they are the result of a personal processing of those who took notes.

Slides are recoverable from the web site (Virtuale); SLIDE are important BUT not exhaustive in the absence of lecture notes and lecture notes are not an alternative to the textbook.

The study on the textbook is also essential.

The suggested textbook:

"Physiology of Domestic Animals" Sjaastadt-Sand-Hove. Scandinavian Veterinary Press second edition (2010).

Other textbook:

Duke's Physiology of domestic Animals, 12th Edition. William O'Reace Editor.

Teaching methods

  1. Classroom lectures in which personal involvement is strongly advocated;
  2. Seminars on specific topics;
  3. Interactive problem-based physiology activities;

All students who attend, for study and research purposes, places where practical activities take place, are equated, as far as their safety is concerned, with workers and as such must be trained on the correct procedures to be adopted and followed in activities with specific risks.

They must therefore be trained on the 3 modules on safety at work.

When entering the laboratory and the barn, each student is explained what the specific risks are and given appropriate PPE; the attendance signature attests to the handing over of the devices and the illustration of the risks.

Assessment methods

PREREQUISITE
The exam can only be taken after having obtained positive verbalization of the preparatory courses.

FREQUENCY
Frequency will successfully be granted with attendance to at least 60% of the total hours. The assessment of frequencies will be performed by RPS software.

LEARNING ASSESMENT
With regard to the learning assessment, the use of AI is prohibited. Any use of AI constitutes a breach of academic integrity.

This course is part of the Integrated Course "PHYSIOLOGY OF SPECIES OF VETERINARY INTEREST - 1".

The assessment of the Integrated Course will be conducted in written and practical/oral format, in an integrated manner, concurrently with the other courses.

The time allotted for the written exam of the Integrated Course is 120 minutes.

To pass the Integrated Course exam, students must achieve a passing grade in each course, as indicated on the respective web pages. The weighting of the grade for each course will be based on the number of credits earned.

The Integrated Course exam is therefore considered passed and can be recorded with a grade of 18/30.

INCLUSION POLICIES
In compliance with Law 104/1992 and Law 170/2010, and in alignment with institutional inclusion policies, students with certified disabilities or specific learning disorders—as well as those with recognized special educational needs—will receive appropriate accommodations during assessments.

Such students should promptly contact the course instructor and inform the University’s Disability and SLD Support Service [https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en].
