Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student is able to evaluate the firm's financing and investment choices with emphasis on international markets. More specifically, the student is able to: develop skills for medium- and long-term planning; decide the financial structure of the firm; use the different models of the theory of finance to evaluate the capital budgeting decisions and the risk associated to investment projects; understand the strategic role of corporate finance in the management of firms.
Course contents
The course begins by presenting the conceptual and practical tools used for the valuation of investment projects and the overall valuation of firms.
It is primarily an advanced corporate finance course, with a specific focus on IPOs (Initial Public Offerings), SEOs (Seasoned Equity Offerings), and M&A transactions (Mergers and Acquisitions).

Assessment methods
Students’ skills and knowledge will be assessed through a written exam.
The exam is worth 30 points and consists of two parts. The first part is worth 15 points and consists of two exercises. The second part is worth 15 points and consists of 15 multiple-choice questions. Each question has only one correct answer. Wrong or missing answers receive zero points.
Important notice: To pass the exam, students must answer at least five multiple-choice questions correctly and complete both written exercises.
During the exam, the use of a financial calculator is allowed. The use of any other material, unless expressly authorized, is prohibited. Any violation of these rules will result in removal from the classroom and termination of the examination.
To take the written exam, students must register online via the AlmaEsami system. Students experiencing problems with the registration process should contact the instructor.
The minimum passing grade is 18/30.
Grading structure:

• 18–23: sufficient
• 24–27: good
• 28–30: very good
• 30 cum laude: excellent
