Learning outcomes
At the end of the course unit, students know the most important aspects of statistics from the methodological and operational point of view. In particular, students are capable to: - synthesize information in statistical distributions and graphs; - select and calculate the most consistent average values and measures of variability in the light of specific problems concerning given phenomena; - measure the intensity of the relationship between characters, even where they are of different nature.
Course contents
Exploratory Statistics (data classification, mean values, indices of variability and concentration, statistical ratios, index numbers).
Elements of probability (events, logical operations, combinatorics, axioms and basic probability, discrete and continuous random variables).
Statistical Inference (point estimation, interval estimation, hypothesis testing).

Assessment methods
Oral examination (approximately 15-20 minutes).
