Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to know morphological microscopic and macroscopic features of the digestive, genitourinary, endocrine, cardiocirculatory, respiratory and lympatic systems and the organization of the nervous system of the mammals; the student should be able to recognize the main anatomical differences among species.
Course contents
-Histology and cytology
-Digestive apparatus of domestic mammals: mouth, salivary glands, pharynx, guttural pouch, esophagus, stomach and forestomachs, small and large intestine, liver, pancreas.
-Urinary apparatus: kidney and urinary flow pathway (renal pelvis, ureter, urinary bladder,Urethra).
-Female and male genital apparatus.
-Central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and peripheral nervous system. Autonomic nervous system.
-Endocrine apparatus: hypophysis (pituitary gland), hypothalamus-hypophysis axis, epiphysis (pineal gland), thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, adrenal glands (suprarenal glands), endocrine pancreas, endocrine systems of testicle and ovary.
-Cardiocirculatory system.
-Respiratory system.
-Lympathic system

Teaching methods
The teacher will discuss the various topics covered by this course emphasizing the practical importance of the various anatomical structures in question.
Students will put into practice the knowledge learned in class during practice sessions in dissecting room. Small groups of students carry out the practical exercises independently under the supervision of the teacher.
Considering the types of activities and teaching methods adopted, attendance for this course requires the successful completion of Modules 1 and 2 via e-learning, and Module 3 on health and safety training in study environments. Information about the schedule and access to Module 3 is available in the dedicated section of the Degree Program website.
Participation in practical and laboratory sessions requires wearing a lab coat and appropriate footwear. Suitable personal protective equipment (PPE), such as disposable latex gloves, will be provided as needed.
Assessment methods
The exam takes place through in itinere tests and a final oral exam.
The evaluation is expressed with a mark out of thirty for the exams. The test is passed with a score of at least 18/30. In the case of maximum marks (30/30), honors can be attributed.
A very thorough knowledge of the topics addressed in the course, together with high skills of critical analysis, connection and a sure command of specific terminology will be evaluated with the maximum score (30-30L).

A technically adequate preparation and a sufficient analytical capacity, even if not particularly articulated, expressed in a correct language, will produce fair evaluations (23-26).
Sufficient preparation and analytical skills, expressed in a language that is barely formally correct, will determine the sufficiency (18-22).
Access to the trial is free. The test lasts at least 30 minutes and aids are not allowed, except for students entitled to use them.
Students can register for exams through the AlmaEsami platform (http://almaesami.unibo.it/ ). Exams are scheduled during the designated periods in the academic calendar. Additional sessions are available for students beyond the standard program duration.
The student has the right to refuse the verbalization of the proposed positive grade at least once.
Students with learning disorders and/or temporary or permanent disabilities: please, contact the office responsible (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en/for-students ) as soon as possible so that they can propose acceptable adjustments. The request for adaptation must be submitted in advance (15 days before the exam date) to the lecturer, who will assess the appropriateness of the adjustments, taking into account the teaching objectives.
